IXLB Dim Sum - Hollywood
Have you ever wanted dim sum but didn’t have the time to commit to a lengthy meal? Let me introduce you to IXLB Dim Sum in Hollywood. This counter service only shop serves up a huge menu of fast and flavorful dim sum classics. It is also super affordable, so you can really go to town! When you arrive, you’ll order on a touch screen (fancy right?) and then pay and pick up at the counter. The staff is so friendly and helpful; They are just the best!
Now, let me walk you through some must try items.
Cha Siu Bao
This was one of my very favorite items on the menu. The chopped BBQ honey roast pork bun was light and delicious, and I could have eaten far more than the three it comes with.
Xio Long Bao
You’ll get five of these pork soup dumplings in your order, and let me warn you, eat them fast! You don’t want any of the juice seeping out or these dumplings deflating. They are made with ground pork, cabbage, ginger, garlic, and scallion.
I love shrimp dumplings. They come with four bite sized and packed with flavor. You can see straight through to the pink shrimp on the inside.
Shrimp and Chive Dumplings
If you are looking for another way to get your shrimp fix, I recommend these. They come as an order of three.
Shrimp Wonton with Chili Oil
Do you like spicy? Then you’ll love these. They are one of the most popular items on the menu and can be served steamed or fried. I like spice and these had the tears flowing and my nose running. You’ve been warned. Served with four dumplings.
Looking for something bigger than a single dumpling? I really enjoyed the Jalapeño Pork bun. You can get it with chicken or fish as well. It is served with pickles, cilantro, tomato, and cabbage.
I really enjoyed this dish. Served with chili, these cucumbers are on the spicier side, but the sweetness of the cucumber itself helps balance the flavors. The serving size on this dish is also incredibly generous. Definitely worth ordering as a green side.
Now this was not my favorite dumpling I tried due to the mushrooms inside, but I’m putting it on the list for all of you who want a veggie option. It is filled with bamboo shoots, baby corn, carrots, and cilantro in addition to mushrooms. You can also order this dish in a steamed bun.
Baked, Pan Fried, Grilled
Fried Fish Fillet
An order comes with two fillets. I loved this one. Served with a spicy mayo, this is another item that you could honestly enjoy as your whole meal if your appetite isn’t too big.
Pan Fried Turnip Cake
Again, not my personal favorite, but the friend I dined with who has much more experience with dim sum was living for this cake. You get three for an order, and they are made with radish, sausage, and dried shrimp.
Red Bean Donut
This sticky sweet treat reminded me of challah bread in texture. You get two for your order, but I could have eaten ten. So good.
Egg Custard Tart
If you are looking to try another classic, this dish should go on your list. You’ll get three tarts in your order and each is good for about two bites.
Ice Coconut Tapioca
Made with coconut milk and boba pearl, this is a deliciously sweet way to wash down your meal.
This is only a jumping off point—the menu is big! Go with your gut and enjoy!
